Built on experience, driven by purpose
We are former museum professionals who understand the sector from the inside. Our team has curated exhibitions, managed collections, secured funding, and navigated the complex challenges that cultural institutions face daily.
Our foundation
Spring-moose was established in 2011 by three museum directors who recognized a gap in the consultancy landscape. Too many advisors brought business expertise but lacked genuine understanding of how museums operate. Others had cultural knowledge but couldn't translate it into practical strategy.
We set out to bridge that divide. Every member of our team has worked in museums, galleries, or heritage organizations. We've dealt with inadequate storage facilities, difficult funding conversations, and the challenge of making centuries-old collections relevant to contemporary audiences.
This firsthand experience shapes everything we do. When we recommend changes, we're not imposing theoretical frameworks. We're suggesting approaches we've tested ourselves, adjusted for your specific circumstances.
Our team
Our consultants come from diverse backgrounds within the cultural sector. Former curators bring deep knowledge of collection interpretation and preservation standards. Exhibition designers understand how visitors move through spaces and engage with objects. Education specialists know how to create programmes that resonate with schools and community groups.
What unites us is a commitment to the sector itself. We work with museums because we believe in their importance, not because they represent a lucrative market segment. Many of our team members continue to volunteer with local heritage organizations and serve on museum advisory boards.
